Wood-pellets are a processed fuel made by compressing dry sawdust. With low moisture content of around 5%, the fuel is very energy-dense (typically providing 5kWhrs of energy per kg) and produces little ash. With its "free-flowing" characteristics it is easy to handle and use in automatic appliances.

Widely available in North America and continental Europe for decades, this user-friendly renewable fuel has now reached the UK and is being produced in several locations - see “Our Network” for details of fuel-suppliers.
